Roderick (Rod) Gonzalez
Rod didn't really plan on buying a Miata. In February 2000 he was shopping for a different car and was leaning towards a
convertible. While at a dealer lot he was looking at a Chrysler Sebring and a Mustang convertible that were sitting in the front
row. A 97 Brilliant Black Miata was sitting next to the Mustang. He gave the Miata a glance, then back over at the other two
cars when a salesman greeted him and asked what he was interested in. Rod told him that he was thinking about getting a
convertible. He asked Rod if he had ever driven a Miata. Rod told him that he had not really considered it. The salesman said
"C'mon, let's take it for a little spin". Rod got in, turned the key, started down the road, and ….well, need I say more?
Occasionally Rod calls his car Monty - short for Montego Blue. Rod has added Crazy Red Air horns, Hi-Flo mesh grill, black
pebbled aluminum door sills, black textured Voodoo shift knob, Racing Beat High Flow Air Inlet w/K&N filter, Brainstorm
aluminum pedals, front and rear mud guards, rear window pocket protector, and Brainstorm oil filter relocation kit. Rod
works for the State Department of Fish & Game as a GIS Analyst. He is currently single and spends most of his free time on
taking care of his Miata, building and configuring personal computers, and participating in SAMOA activities. Rod enjoys all
the events that he has participated in. This includes, parties, meetings, track events, and especially any run that taakes him
down a long and winding road.
